Sszorak is a deceptively simple boss. There is a main phase and a wind phase.
Pre-fight
Place markers in front of the wind tunnels in a color wheel formation. Have one player (Preferably a healer or a designated corpse) call out the markers when the tunnels form. Note that the color to call out is the opposite color of the one in front of the tunnel (The one on the opposite side of the arena).
Main Phase
Keep the group together for the tank mechanic. Be ready to run out if you are targeted by a mechanic.
Tank Combo - Apex Predator
Each tank should take one Ravage and one Mutilate. Taunting the boss will get him to change targets, even if he’s already started the cast.
Ravage
White triangle, point away from the group. Applies a vulnerability to the second Ravage in sequence.
Mutilate - Soak
Green triangle, point towards the raid.
Venomous Surge
Appears as a green circle around you. Drop it on one of the markers called out. It will be used to survive the wind phase.
Raging Crosswinds
Six players will be marked and launched into the air and given a slowfall. Colliding with another player will remove the slowfall and send you safely back to the arena. Most classes (as well as the dracthyr and void elf racials) can survive this by themselves, and the launch often doesn’t send you far enough to kill you if you’re properly positioned. However, Priests, Paladins and Death Knights cannot save themselves if misplaced, so try to do the mechanics anyway.
Position yourself pointing towards the player with an arrow pointing in the opposite direction to yours. When the launch happens, you will collide midair and land. If you miss, then you should employ your class based fall control to avoid falling off the edge (Blink, Demonic Circle, Transference, Shadowstep, Wild Charge, Glide, Disengage, Gust of Winds, Heroic Leap or Spatial Rift). Wait until you miss your friend before this, in case they don’t have the option.
Wind Phase
The boss will hunker down and the wind tunnels will activate, one at a time. The raid will be pushed towards the edge, but activating the venom cyst dropped in the main phase will knock everyone back and slow the push to a survivable level. After three rounds of wind, the fight goes back to the main phase.
If the raid is predominantly melee or mobile casters, now is a good time to use bloodlust, as the boss is taking 30% extra damage. However, many casters will lose out on damage trying to stay alive, so it may be better to use bloodlust at the start instead.
