Nek’zali the Soulcoiler

<-Index

Nek’zali is a 2-phase fight with a brief intermission in between.

Phase 1

The first phase is a tight dps check with tons of incoming damage. There are three abilities to watch out for.

Essence Rend (Dps/Healers)

You will be targeted by an arrow and a spirit will channel on you for a moment before knocking you back and putting a dot on you. Take it to the edge of the arena and call for a dispel. A whirlwind will spawn after the dot is removed and begin circling the arena.

Possession Barrage (Tanks)

The boss will cast for a moment before release a barrage of 5 spirits. The spirits will do raid-wide damage on impact, but their damage is reduced the further they travel, so the targeted tank will run across the arena. ALL dps and healers should be clear of the path. The tank in question will take a lot of damage, so a defensive is recommended and healers should be prepared for a burst of group healing.

Restless Amani (Adds)

Periodically, a group of adds will spawn and try to reach the center. They have a shield, but are otherwise fragile. Once the shield is broken, they will stop fixating and follow whoever was attacking them, so bring them to the tanks at that point.

One last ability to watch out for is Soulcoil Rite. The boss will teleport into the middle, gaining 25 energy and doing raid damage over a few seconds. After completing this ability four times, the boss will enrage, so they must be reduced to 50% health before then.

 Intermission

At 50% health, the boss will enter an intermission phase. Two large (Echo of Jawae) adds will spawn, and the group will fight one at a time. The tanks will regularly be targeted by a soak, and a large amount of Restless Amani will spawn, but the incoming damage is relatively low. It is recommended that the healers take this opportunity to recover mana and cooldowns.

Phase 2

The second phase is similar to the first, but instead of gaining energy from the Soulcoil Rite, the boss will constantly gain energy over time instead. Uncoiling will provide constant raid damage, but less than the Soulcoil Rite would have. Bloodlust should be used here to kill the boss before she reaches full energy.
