Zul’jan and Malacrass are a 3-phase fight. Although lengthy, they are not specifically complicated.
Phase 1
Zul’jan starts the fight with venom.
Coalescing Venom (Awareness)
Zul’jan pulls venom from the crucible, creating temporary venom pools and spawning orbs. Touching an orb will carry it for 5 seconds, and then drop it. The orbs need to be brought behind the tanks so they can be destroyed, as they inflict raid damage each.
There are two waves of tank mechanics to destroy orbs, so don’t worry about getting them all at once. Dividing the destruction also limits the damage from the burst.
Sever (Tank)
A big cleave attack that destroys orbs and applies vulnerability. Tank swap after every hit.
Guillotine (Soak)
After two tank mechanics, Zul’jan will attempt to execute a player. The group needs to soak the axe on the edge of the arena to give space for the follow-up explosion. After this, another round of Coalescing Venom will start.
Phase 2
Hex Lord Malacrass comes in second with shadow abilities.
Dreadmarch (Dps)
Players will be possessed and forced to walk off the edge unless the rest of the raid breaks them free. Two ghosts will spawn from each and fixate random players. The ghosts need to be stacked behind the tanks like the venom orbs so they can be destroyed.
The ghosts will not move if the fixated player is looking towards them. If they reach their target, they will possess them.
Soul Sever (Tank)
Identical to Sever, but for ghosts and it knocks your soul out. Pick up your fragments before they expire or you will die.
Gloombomb (Spread)
Players will be targeted with a small AoE. Don’t hit your friends, and pick up your soul fragments afterwards or you will die.
Intermission (Bloodlust)
Malacrass will begin healing Zul’jan, spawning ghosts that need to be stepped on, but making him take double damage. Inflict as much damage as possible during this phase.
Phase 3
All of the mechanics of phases 1&2. Be mindful to kill the bosses at the same time and make sure to use the right tank mechanic on the right things.
